Best video camera ever made! I would definitely choose this over a RED one or F3. I mean you get proper 1080 progressive 3-CCDs and it has proper media unlike that SxS crap. But since I don’t have a $50,000 budget for camera, I’ll stick to the XF300.
can you record porno with it
@CVPTV man how do you get all those camcorders?
45 grand? or 45 hundred
$45,000 and you get nothing with it, kinda overboard if you ask me.
10x for the nice review!!!
Thanks for saying so.
You know your stuff with a camera like this.
Peace
The 700 is actually used to film peak-time UK dramas and History Channel documentaries, but yes it is used for news gathering also.
This model uses a progressive CCD.
Hi, thanks for your message ladamasognatrice. Please don’t confuse XDCAM discs with BLURAY discs!
Best regards
Hi sethroking, This would be quite a hardcore camera for such a feat.
I would recommend something like the Sony PMW-350K firstly as it is half the price of the PDW-700, it comes with a 16x lens (the 700 does not come with a lens) and it records on solid state SxS cards so an XDCAM deck (expensive) is not require to transfer footage
However, if money is no object and you need 4:2:2 for chroma FX etc, then I can recommend the PDW-700. It really is a beast of a camera.
Peace
yes I shot a 15 day rally with it. I had only a little problem with dirt in the canon lenses.
What was this video shot on?
Brillant camcorder…
good sound on BLURAY DISC!!!!
The only thing that this camera is lacking is, I believe, 24P capability. If so, this is a strictly an electronic news gathering (ENG) camera. I think that the new PDW-800 has 24P recording, and so it is more geared towards making movies. As far as 50Mbits/sec rate, I think it’s still a bit starved. It’s only twice the rate of HDV, although one shouldn’t compare MPEG-2 with MPEG-4. I still think that the HDCAM with 144Mbits/sec is superior to this, or 100Mbits/sec DVCPRO-HD or AVC-Intra
finally someone explains stuff thanks
TC = Time Code. it used to line up multiple cameras for syncronization.
Genlock is used to to time the cameras for instance if the shutter on one camera is open, the shutter will be open at exactly the same time on the other
Any chance of expanding the software/hardware beyond the 50 mb/s recording limit?
Me and my friends are making a war movie, for a project. it will be in the woods, hot weather, and we are going to be running around, for instense the movie “Saving Private Ryan” it will be like that type of camera scene. Is this camera relyable and tough enough?
And if it gets a little dirty will it still be okay?
That’s probably a question best answered by our sales team on +44(0)1527 854 222 or by ye olde Wikipedia.
My knowledge is mainly in design, programming, marketing and quantum physics
i know about time codes and i have that feature on my editor but i havent seen the button for it on a cam like that before, but idont know anything about gen lock hows that work? thankx
Hi,
You have Time Code which gives (virtually) each frame a unique time, useful for post-production (editing) and Gen Lock which is also a useful sync method for editing and helps you cut together footage from multiple cameras easily.
what is TC and glenlock
Brilliant camera, I hope it soon replaces those awful betacam SX cameras.
OMG!I want this camera!I’m going to be a Professional cameraman and use one of this cameras!:D Awesome video 5/5 stars!
That is so sick!!!
